Creating Life-Long Learners
On behalf of all the children, staff and Academy Committee. I’d like to warmly welcome you to Hawthorn Primary School.
We are a school that likes to celebrate success at every level. The life of the school is driven by enthusiasm and a desire to achieve. We aim to bring learning alive, making it exciting and stimulating. We want to give children a thirst for learning that continues with them throughout their future experiences and lives.
An essential for this to happen is teamwork. We view education as a joint venture, including children, parents, staff, the Academy Committee and the wider community. We hope that we will be able to depend upon your cooperation and support in this partnership, hoping that together we can provide the best for every child.

News
New lunch menus
We have now trialled the 3 week initial menus for our new school meals provider - Apetito.
We have spoken to the children about the menus and the choice of food on offer and have now amended them.
I attach the new menus and have updated the ones on the website.

Hawthorn is judged to be a Good school by OFSTED
Further to the Ofsted inspection of the school which took place on the 26th & 27th June - I am delighted to now be able to share the judgement with you.
The school has been judged to be a good school which is excellent news and a sound basis from which to continue our improvement journey.
The team of three inspectors that visited our School carried out their inspection over the two days, which included deep dives into various subjects, lesson visits, discussions with staff/pupils, meetings with school leaders and scrutiny of work undertaken by children. They met with the headteacher, deputy headteacher, members of the governing body and Trust, spoke with parents, and reviewed documentation provided by the school. More of what inspectors looked at can be found within the official report.
The last time Hawthorn was judged to be a good school was in back in 2009 – 15 years ago.
As you will see from the report, Ofsted have rated Hawthorn Primary School as ‘Good’ in every area and for its overall effectiveness as a school.
